He is risen!

It is with a heavy heart that we take our leave of you and return to South Africa. We have had a wonderful time with the church over the past almost year and a half. I will be returning to mentoring our Church planters with Africa For Christ and Shirley the Day Care carers.

I am glad that we can celebrate the good news of Easter with you this weekend. Jesus overcame death two thousand year ago when He rose from the grave. The apostle Paul declares: “…Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).

Although Jesus Christ’s resurrection took place very long ago, the details are among the best attested in all of history. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, the two followers who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus, Thomas, and many others tell us Jesus died and rose again. A Jewish historian, Josephus, records the fact in his work “Antiquities.” The evidence of the resurrection is as well established as any event in history.

The fact that the lives of the believers who saw the risen Lord were changed is proof in itself. Only three days earlier they were crushed and afraid. Then, a total change came over them. In the face of opposition and almost certain death, they went out with boldness telling everyone that Christ had risen. Why? Because they knew He was alive.

The good news of Easter is, not only that Jesus Christ rose from the grave, and He lives today, but there is something more. It is the wonderful assurance that every Christian who dies will be raised to eternal life, even as Christ Himself was raised. On Sunday we will consider this in more detail in the topic, “The Easter Conspiracy.” I hope you can join us at the service at 10:30 a.m.

Happy Easter!

Bruce Davie, Pastor/Elder

Good Friday Service and Communion, 10:30
And after church fellowship with ‘Hot Cross Buns’
There will be a bus from Kilchberg station at 10:20

Easter Sunday Service, 10:30

There will now be a Thalwil Taxi from Kilchberg Station at 09:50 and 10:20. We would like to encourage more folk to come earlier for the 09:50 taxi, so that another trip, a second one, will not be needed for 10:20 which incurs an extra cost.
