Casa Victoria Foundation Quito, Ecuador

Dear member and Friends of IBCZ,

We have been blessed to find out more about the missionaries and missions with which we partner at IBCZ. This week under the theme of “Engaging with our Mission and Missionaries”, Frances Paton provides us with information about the Casa Victoria Foundation.

“We are a group of people sharing life with the less privileged community of San Roque and its surrounding neighborhoods in the Historic Center of Quito, Ecuador.

The vision of the Casa Victoria Foundation is to be a safe, emotional, and appropriate environment for low-income boys and girls in the area whom we support academically, intellectually, emotionally and, especially, spiritually.

We achieve these objectives with the boys and girls:

  • Providing daily support with directed tasks after school hours;
  • Instructing principles and values of life, based on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth;
  • Giving support in computing, reading, self-esteem, healthy recreation, nutritious food.
  • Raising awareness among parents about violence in the family and prevention of alcohol abuse.”

Casa Victoria was founded in 2001 by Alicia Duran Ballen, daughter of a former president of Ecuador and a former mayor of Quito. The founders converted an old historic house into a home where children from low-income families in the area receive nutritious meals, supervision after school and biblical teaching. The foundation also serves a place where the community can come together sharing its’ library and recently opened pizza café which provides work for some of the parents and income for the foundation. All this is only possible through the many volunteers who have given freely of their time and expertise over the years.

A message from Alicia

“Dan and I are so privileged we get to serve these children of very poor families and give them the opportunity to learn daily about Jesus, help them with their homework, with computer skills, reading at our sweet library, eat a nutritious homemade meal, and play soccer to their hearts´ content!

We couldn´t do any of this without your monthly support, and on top of that,  your generous once-a-year extra contribution.

May the Lord continue to richly bless each of the congregation and leaders.

In His love,

Alicia, Dan, and the Casa Victoria children”
