After months of meetings, interaction between candidates and interviews, the Pastoral Search Committee is proposing a pastoral couple to the church for them to verify this Sunday. Having given the congregation an adequate amount of time to seek God’s guidance, the Church’s leadership is asking the members to confirm their proposal.
What percentage of votes are necessary to issue an invitation to the pastorate? This is determined by our Church Constitution. A quorum of at least 60% of the Church Membership is required, including those voting by Absentee Ballot. If at least 75% of the votes are in favour of the Candidate, the Elders will issue a Call to the Candidate to serve as pastor of IBCZ. I would remind you that by abstaining from voting you are in fact casting a “No” vote. Please let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no. (James 5:12). Obviously, a unanimous vote would send a strong message of the church’s leading.
I ask that all of us devote ourselves to pray this week, seeking to know God’s will in this matter. The process is also part of God’s will and our renewed commitment to Him and the family of the church, in which He has called us to participate.
