The Wisdom of God

Dear Members and Friends of IBCZ,

As we are continuing our study of the attributes of God, last Sunday we considered the wisdom of God. Wisdom goes beyond knowledge, for while knowledge has to do with knowing the facts and knowing the truth, wisdom involves taking those facts and that truth and using it in the best way to make the best choices. One theologian put it like this, “The wisdom of God tells us that God will bring about the best possible results, by the best possible means, for the most possible people, for the longest possible time.”

What this means is that we can fully trust God – with our lives, the lives of those dear to us, and with the whole world. This doesn’t mean God will give us an easy life or grant us all our wishes, for God has bigger purposes for us than that. God desires that we would increasingly grow in Christ-like character, that our devotion to God would grow and our commitment to God would strengthen, that our love for God and for others would deepen, and through all of this our witness for God would be compelling. Sometimes that path to that goal will be challenging, but we can trust that God in His wisdom is working all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28).

So, no matter what you may be facing now, be assured that God, according to His wisdom and in His perfect timing, is at work so that His good purposes for your life will come to pass. To God be the glory!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Bob
