Women at the Well

The 2nd September is the date for the women of IBCZ to gather “at the Well” at 9am.
In Bible times the well was the gathering place for the women of the community. There they would enjoy being together catching up with each other and be busy drawing the so essential water for their family.
Proverbs 11: 25b says:-
“He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed”.
That is so true even for us today at whatever stage of life we are in and whoever we are. There are many occasions that took place at the Well and are recorded throughout the Bible. In John 4, we find Jesus at the Well talking to a woman who had problems. He did the unthinkable for a Jew and asked this Samaritan for a drink. In the dialogue that follows Jesus says (v 14) “whoever drinks of the water I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water I give him shall become a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Jesus at the Well meeting the needs of this woman with great consequences, not only for her, but for the villagers she lived among.
v 29, ” and they came to him”
v 39, “many from that day believed because of the word of the woman who testified.”
We invite you to join us at the Well on September 2nd at 9am and be refreshed with the water of life so that you can refresh others and be part of Jesus’ ministry to those you meet.
Blessings, Anne Mc Vicar
