Abraham and his God

Dear Friends @ IBCZ

It is an honour to be called by our Wonderful Lord to come to Zurich to serve you as Interim Pastor. I have had the joy to serve as Pastor and Senior Pastor in the U.K. USA and Spain. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife (Anne) who has not only blessed me but the congregations we have served. We are also blessed with three children and 10 grandchildren (7-17). As 2017 began we again committed our lives to serve our Lord wherever He sent us. What a surprise 2:1/2 months ago to be contacted by IBCZ. We had a strong call by God to come here (and here we are!) only God knows the reason Why?

On Sunday I am led to speak from Gen. 12:1-4a, Heb. 11:8: Revealing Abraham developing a dynamic relationship with the God who is Personal, (All) Powerful and Purposeful who created us to have a meaningful relationship with Him.

UK Daily Mail: “Victoria Secret star Kylie Bisutti left modeling February (2013)…While she admits she has most likely lost out on millions of dollars by quitting at the pinnacle of her fame, she is wholly contented with her decision…‘I quit Victoria Secret to become a Prov. 31 wife.’  ‘Beauty isn’t about what you look like…It’s about what’s in your heart. That’s the most important thing.’ Heart = control center of your life? Does God have any relevance for your life, plans, hopes, dreams, etc.

Dr. Ravi Zacharias: “God is the shaper of your heart. God does not display his work in abstract (hypothetical) terms. He prefers the concrete, (real, genuine) and this means that at the end of your life one of three things will happen to your heart: it will grow hard, it will be broken, or it will be tender. Nobody escapes.

Knowing God isn’t about you becoming religious, keeping rules, etc., it is living

in the realm of reality! Your heart becomes tender towards God because you repented of your sin and believed the claims of Jesus Christ. Only in Him will you discover why you are here, living on this planet, at this time. Only in Him will you discover God’s purpose for your life. Major religions can honor Abraham’s God but they part company because of the claims of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones: “We must come back to the soul and to God who made it. We were made for Him, we are meant for Him, we have a correspondence with Him, and we will never come to rest until, like that needle on the compass, we strike that northern point, and there we come to rest – nowhere else.” We need a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ! See you Sunday! Jim
